The storyline is bleak and tragic right off the bat. Each chapter is unpredictable and has unique ways of scaring the player. There was a tiny glitch near the end of chapter 6, but that was it. Goes in a terrible direction imo. The looping hallway, with no clear idea of how you're expected to know you're supposed to stare at the pictures for words to appear? Like that really made me mad cause how was I meant to know that? Then, I had to organize 50 boxes? Now that was the true horror of God's Basement like screw that. I wanted to quit so bad when I got to that part but, I paid $13 for the game so I was gonna beat it no matter what so I did. And the story was good, however the gameplay was bad, either way I recommend the game but, not for the price it's being sold for I say $10 would be a better price for this game. In Germany we would call you Ehrenbruder (Honor Brother).. Not a bad little game. Took me about three hours, including about 10-15 mins of getting stuck, but there are hints in the menu, which I found extremely useful on those few times I was stuck. It's reminiscent of PT without being derivative, and although not super scary, it did foster a good atmosphere and sense of suspense. The general story and ending became somewhat predictable as time went on, but I would recommend this game.. This game truly captured my full attention with it's relaxing and yet creepy atmosphere.I stumpled on this randomly and i need to say i entirely enjoyed the experience.The environment is really astonishing , despite it being nothing special at all (and somewhat expected environment for a horror game) and this is what makes it so interesting.The music is relaxing as well up to certain points where you shift from your relaxed state to your uneasy anxiety.The story itself was truly something, which i was fascinated about.It might have been a short experience but it was still very enjoyable for my taste and when i've noticed that this is one of the first games the developer ever made so far, i've made up my mind to recommend this game and give a little support.Thanks for the little experience i hope i will see more games off that kind from the developer. If you enjoy games where you feel relaxed, a bit puzzled and also creeped out the next second then this is the right game for you. NEED BUG FIX !!!!!In late chapter 2, I was falling down into totally dark, Hint was N/A,cant do anything but only exit the game, then i reload the game and it was auto going to chatper3.In part 2 of chapter 3 , after I went sleep and wake up at night, grandma drop the plates and I cleared one of the broken two, then I found I cant clear the other one. I waited 6 mins for the Hints but it says N/A. Game seems a waste and the solutions much too contrived and pointless.. Actually scary horror games are few and far between, but this one really did it for me. There are a couple of pretty mild jump scares (that you will definitely get a lot of warning on), but mostly it's just creepy. Most importantly, it's subtle about its creepiness - many horror games go way over the top, walls pouring blood and loud shrieking. This one takes its time, doesn't hammer you, and it's more effective for it.The one dull spot is the Operator. I found his narration to frequently be redundant and unnecessary, explaining scenes I had just finished, telling me what was happening instead of showing me. This is particularly true in the ending, which is a long monologue by the Operator of things that could have been much more impactful if I experienced them for myself. But don't let that drive you off - God's Basement is absolutely worth checking out.Content warning for the game - a very detailed suicide description.. I personally cannot recommend this game. There are multiple instances where I would progress ahead of the horror elements. It is difficult to determine what can be interacted with and when interaction becomes available for particular key items. Horror animations typically don't disappear after being triggered and as a result a lot of the scary things in the game just hang out in the room that they spawned in. Environments are static for the most part. I didn't get deep enough into the story to review that.I like the idea of this game and think that it has potential.
